HOW on earth could anybody be so cruel and intentionally hurt a baby?
Let me re-phrase that: how could a man pull off a toenail from a 15-month-old baby and the mum allow her to suffer with multiple fractures, without seeking immediate medical help?
It sickens me, and people like that quite frankly do not deserve their freedom, or a life for that matter.
The couple, Madison Ricketts-Devereux, who was the mother and her partner, Craig Sayers, were both charged in connection with a baby girl’s injuries.
Sayers was jailed for nine years while Ricketts-Devereux was jailed for six years.
To only be jailed a few years after committing such a horrendous act is utterly ridiculous.
For the baby, who cannot converse or communicate, to have suffered and gone through so much abuse from people who should be protecting and loving her unconditionally, it means her life will never be the same again.
The only way that baby girl could have expressed her pain and suffering was through crying and screaming.
Child abusers, murderers, rapists and paedophiles do not deserve to be put into prison - which doesn’t even seem like a punishment nowadays and majority of the time they are let out early – and granted their freedom back after serving their time in jail.
Why should taxpayers contribute to feed and entertain these disgusting individuals when they do not deserve to even live? Why should they be granted their freedom back after doing such a revolting thing to a baby?
Bring back the death penalty, I say.
The court heard that the baby had come to the attention of authorities in January 2017 after she was taken to hospital by her mother because she was unable to raise her arm. Upon examination, it was found she had suffered injuries including a pulled-out toenail and fractures to her arms and fingers.
I could not agree more with some of the readers’ comments on the story, which was in Saturday’s paper.
Hayley Pierce said: “I’m not one for taking choices away from people, but in this case, I think a vasectomy and hysterectomy are in order. Make sure they are never responsible for another baby, ever.”
Caitlin O’Callaghan said: “I hope the right people see this and proper justice gets served for that poor baby. If she was too immature to stop someone attacking her child, she should have been deemed too immature to be caring for one in the first place. There is no excuse for it.”
Nicki Brotherton said: “Bring back hanging.”
Shona Kate Lane said: “There can be no mitigating circumstances for his behaviour, moronic coward.”
