A POPULAR city pub has been sold to an owner who has pledged to inject money into the business - and will change the pub’s name to its original title from 19 years ago.
The Cap ‘n’ Gown, in Upper Tything, Worcester, is set to became The Feathers again later this summer.
The pub was previously run by a regional brewery and has been bought by new owner, Bar 45 Worcester Ltd.
The company says it plans to improve the customer experience by injecting money into the property, including a complete refurbishment of the trading areas.
There will be an emphasis on providing good quality products in a relaxed environment whilst showcasing sporting events.
The pub intends to open near to the end of the summer period.
Company director, Justin Cull said: “We are existing operators in Worcester and look forward to putting this pub back on the map under its original name, ‘The Feathers’.
Joshua Sullivan, senior business agent at business property adviser Christie & Co, who handled the sale, said: “We conducted a comprehensive marketing campaign, and shortly became inundated with enquiries which led to an attractive offer from a local experienced operator. The venue proved to be popular due to its city centre location.
“I wish Bar 45 Worcester all the very best with their new acquisition, and I have no doubt that it will be a success following their plans to develop the business further.”
The Worcester News previously reported that the city pub closed its doors on March 30 after the landlord, Ted Marshall, moved on to run The New Inn in Shrawley.
