Roadchef’s Strensham service area is celebrating after winning three prestigious prizes at the company’s annual Heroes of the Year ceremony.
Strensham, on the M5, fought off tough competition from 30 sites across the UK to take home the coveted award for Brand of the Future, and also – thanks to one special member of the team – the Going the Extra Mile and Hero of the Year accolades.
Roadchef holds the ceremony each year to celebrate the achievements of its staff in shops, hotels, catering operations and support offices.
LEON, located on the southbound site, was awarded Brand of the Future having gone from strength to strength in 2018.
A team, led by Carol Summerell, received outstanding feedback off the back of a mystery shopper and an excellent audit score, exceeding expectations and demonstrating a commitment to the highest standards.
The Cornish Bakery team also had cause to celebrate after assistant unit manager, Katrina Kekenakova, won the Hero of the Year award.
With ten years’ experience at Roadchef, Katrina has become renowned for always putting customers first to ensure they have a great experience and ensuring her team follows her example.
Katrina also won the Going the Extra Mile award for her outstanding customer service skills and willingness to go above and beyond for which she received £500 worth of vouchers.
Paul Hutson, site director at Strensham, said: “It’s been brilliant to be one of the sites in Roadchef’s portfolio to have such an innovative brand like LEON and it has made for a very exciting year.
"The team have worked really hard to make it a success and we look forward to continuing this in 2019.”
Mark Fox, CEO of Roadchef, said: “Being able to offer our customers a range of exciting brands is an important part of the business, so congratulations to the team at LEON for their continued success.
"How fantastic that we have team members such as Katrina whose hard work and excellent customer service means she fully deserves this recognition. We’re extremely proud of her and the team at Strensham.”
