AN ELECTRICAL goods shop has closed down in the city, with the loss of 10 jobs.
Hughes Electrical decided against renewing the lease on its shop in Elgar Retail Park, Worcester, due to a 'downturn on the high street'.
Worcester shopper Colin Prince, aged 78, said: "It's disappointing.
"How much longer before there are no electrical goods stores in the city?"
Mr Prince said he realised the shop had closed when he saw that the rollers were down on Wednesday.
He added: "I went into Halfords next door and they said it's been closed for a couple of months."
Maplin has also closed on the estate, along with another electrical shop, Comet, on the adjoining Blackpole Retail Park.
A spokesman for Hughes Electrical said: “As a business we are not immune from the downturn on the high street which means, regrettably, we have to take tough decisions.
"With the lease on our property in Worcester ending we have taken the decision not to renew it, regrettably leading to ten redundancies."
The spokesman added that Worcester customers who have rented equipment are now being looked after by the company's shop in Grove Street, Redditch.
