A SCHOOL has been praised after receiving its first ‘good’ rating from Ofsted.
Perry Wood Primary and Nursery School was raised out its previous rating of 'requires improvement' by inspectors following its most recent inspection on February 12 and February 13.
The school, in St Albans Close, Worcester, was previously rated as ‘requires improvement’ at its inspections in 2014 and 2016.
Headteacher Suzanne Beston said she was pleased that the latest report reflected the hard work, commitment and dedication shown by staff - and the contribution of the children and wider community.
Mrs Beston, aged 46, added: “Perry Wood Primary is a school that creates an environment that nurtures children’s talents and creativity and ensures all pupils are offered experiences beyond that of normal curriculum expectation.
"We build achievement on discovering the individual talents of each child, put pupils in an environment where they want to learn and where they can discover their true passions.”

The Ofsted report emphasised the school’s progress and the “quality of teaching and learning" and said pupils’ achievement was rising rapidly.
Ofsted praised the school for ensuring its pupils develop a good spiritual, moral, social and cultural understanding.
The report said: “They have implemented programmes to support pupils’ emotional health, raise attendance, improve pupils’ presentation and help teachers in their planning and assessment of the wider curriculum.
“Through the lessons about the importance of rules and responsibilities, teachers encourage pupils to work together and treat each other with respect.
"In part through their religious education, pupils learn about cultures other than their own and the importance of valuing diversity.”
There was special praise for the strong support given to disadvantaged pupils.
Inspectors said, as a result, “disadvantaged pupils in Year 6 left the school having made particularly strong progress in reading.”
Mike McCreedy, chairman of governors, said: “Perry Wood has exceptional staff and pupils. This has been a long journey to good and the governing body is so proud to have been involved in achieving this excellent outcome.”
Head boy, Callum Attwood, aged 11, said: “It’s nice to receive a good rating for our last year at the school.
"It speaks true because we have had more opportunities and more school trips this year.”
Perry Wood Primary, which has 427 pupils on roll, was established in 2012.
The school is a member of the Griffin Schools Trust, which is a family of schools working together and supporting each other.
