THERE was disappointment for city singer Luke Swatman at the weekend after his run in The Voice UK competition came to an end.
The 35-year-old appeared on the latest show, screened on Saturday night, and sadly for his fans it was revealed he was eliminated at the battle round stage of the contest.
Saturday's show saw the St John's star, known as Worcester's Pavarotti, pitted again Nicole Dennis, another of American singer Jennifer Hudson's picks. The pair performed together singing Elton John's classic Your Song, but as team coach she had to pick one contestant to take through to the next round.
And despite another powerful performance, which received praise from Will.i.am and Olly Murs, Mr Swatman narrowly missed out.
The coach said she was extremely proud of Mr Swatman's performance though, describing it as "polished" and "almost perfect".
After the show was screened, Mr Swatman wrote on Twitter: "Thank you all for your support.
"It’s been an amazing journey.
"Thanks to Jennifer and Olly for turning for me and giving me the opportunity. Love to all my friends. Congratulations Nicole - what a battle that was.
"Had the best time."
