A NEW playground has been created at a Worcester school.

St Barnabas CE Primary School has installed playground with an all weather surface, designed to help its reception children play, think, co-operate and have fun together.

It replaces an old playground that was worn.

Sarah Hanson said: “The old playground had a surface that had worn so badly that it had become unsafe and was also dull and uninspiring.

"St. Barnabas has a fabulous school motto, ‘Inspire, Nurture and Achieve’ because we believe that every child can achieve in the right environment and with the right support.

"Happy, healthy relationships are an essential part of that achievement as well as developing a love for playing outside.

"This year our Sports Premium money was spent on providing an all-weather Daily Mile Track to promote health, fitness and a love of the outside too.

" The Reception children are thrilled with their new playground.”

The school said it had spent several years saving up funding - known as devolved capital funding - which is earmarked for keeping school buildings and grounds well-maintained and safe.

The area, created by Playtime by Fawns in collaboration with school staff, was also supported by fundraising from the Co-op in Barker Street and the school's PTA.
