In August we celebrated summer' by hosting an event at Claines church hall, with members and visitors enjoying an afternoon of conversation together with a delicious tea and the benefit of various stalls including tombola, produce and crafts.

September was a general meeting and, although there were several absentees mainly due to holidays, was reasonably well-attended. After president Susan welcomed members and a visitor, there was quite a lot of business to get through, such as reminders of events taking place during the next few months. Thanks were extended to Paula for organising a splendid morning at Blackmoor Gardens which was thoroughly enjoyed by the members who went, particularly as we followed it by lunch at a local pub!

The craft group is being well-supported, by visitors as well as members, and the September one was no different when Eileen Cross showed us how to make a Christmas card in cross-stitch. The next one is on October 16 when Jeff Ford will give a demonstration of enamel jewellery making. Claines Craft Group meets on the third Tuesday of each month at 7pm and everyone is welcome to join us - entrance is £1 which includes tea and biscuits.

We would also like to extend an invitation to all, to our coffee morning to be held at Claines Church Institute (opposite the church) on Saturday, November 17, further details to be given later.

The speaker was Mike Hardwick who kept us enthralled by his presentation of an audio-visual show with photographs of places and people around the world in various times and situations, including Worcestershire's very own Elgar! AUDREY FARLEY
