A LEAKING water main in Kempsey, near Worcester, has been fixed after two months of weekly complaints from residents.
The leak on Byefields was first reported to Severn Trent Water on Monday, August 13. Engineers were out inspecting the site within 48 hours of the report, but they were unable to pinpoint the leak. Yesterday, they were on the site fixing it.
Simon Ricketts, aged 33, of Byefields, Kempsey, contacted your Worcester News to complain about the leak. He said: "Every week I reported it to Severn Trent. They said they would send an inspector out and that it was not a problem. Then they said they would need to do a night-time visit. It has just been on-going."
A spokeswoman for Severn Trent said: "We have been out lots of times, but because the leak is on a main road it makes it hard to pinpoint. Engineers will find locations of leaks by listening. When you have a busy road it hampers things which is why a night-time visit was required.
"This particular leak has been a very tricky one to tackle. We do normally tackle things more quickly."
If anyone sees a leak they are urged to call Severn Trent Water on 0800 7834444.
