AN elderly woman who was hit by a car in Worcester city centre is in a critical but stable condition.
The pedestrian, believed to be in her 70s, was at the junction of Edgar Street and College Street, off Sidbury, when the collision with a blue Mini occurred about 3.50pm on Friday.
Police are now appealing for witnesses to the incident which caused traffic chaos. Officers closed off the road to assess the scene while the woman was taken Worcestershire Royal Hospital with serious head injuries.
A police spokesman said: "No-one else was hurt in the incident. The road was closed off for a considerable amount of time. There was a lot of measuring we had to do because we treated it as a crime scene effectively."
