A WANNABE star can be seen battling it out on a popular television talent show this evening to see if he has got the X factor.

Daniel Moule, of Flyford Flavell, near Worcester, has managed to make it to the final 24 people in hit ITV show The X Factor Mr Moule, aged 30, beat more than 150,000 contestants to make it to this stage of the competition - and viewers can watch this weekend to see if our county's hopeful survives the chop from the competitions judges Louis Walsh, Sharon Osbourne, Simon Cowell and Dannii Minogue.

Mr Moule, who is also known as Dan Days and has performed many times at Worcester's Marr's Bar, said he was happy to have made it this far.

"I'm a singer-songwriter and have been playing in England and Ireland for years, since I was 16. My friends persuaded me to go to the auditions in Birmingham at the beginning of summer.

"I never thought I would get this far or be in with a chance of winning. I wanted the exposure I could get and also meet the judges and see if I could get any tips from them," he said.

Of the 24 people left in the competition, they were split into four groups - and Mr Moule was put into the over 25 catagory.

"My group is really good and we do all get on really well. We have grown quite close over the last few weeks when we went to boot camp and Louis' house.

"Although it is a competition and ultimately someone is going to be crowned king or queen, we each support each other. While we all have lots of support from friends and family, it is only the people in the group who can understand what we are going through," he added.

"Bootcamp was quite tough and there was hundreds of people milling about in a big stateley home.

"It started to make me a bit mad. It was quite an intense environment, it wasn't physically draining but it was quite a strain. When we went to Louis' house we were a lot more cared for as there were fewer people. But it was more intense as you know the further along you get the more it matters."

The winner of the series gets a £1 million record contract.

The programme will be broadcast on ITV1 at 6.45pm Saturday.
