I RECENTLY visited Panama Jacks, an American themed steakhouse and grill in Angel Place, Worcester, which opened late last year.
Upon entering I immediately noticed the decor, themed around the wild west with rustic wooden tables and wood panels on the walls.
This gave the restaurant a different and more authentic feel to similar places which was a nice change.
The atmosphere inside the restaurant was relaxed and there was a nice space between the tables helping it to feel less crowded. It is also brightly lit with a warm, welcoming atmosphere
The restaurant was not overly full for a Friday night, but maybe this was down to people still recovering from the festive period and not yet feeling up to plates piled high with food.
When they do get around to venturing back into restaurant land, they’ll get value for money at Panama Jacks. I can confidently say the ribs I had for my main course were easily some of the best I have ever had.
For £13.95 my full rack of ribs consisted of two huge slabs of meat in a fantastic barbecue sauce.
Just one of those racks would have been easily enough for a meal, with the fact I ended up taking one home for my lunch the following day being testament to that.
For a starter I had six barbecue chicken wings, which again could have easily been a meal on its own, and these were again wonderfully glazed and, at £5.95 were well worth the price.
On the side I had a portion of halloumi fries in a spicy coating which were better than what you normally find elsewhere and a real treat.
Across the table, my companion ordered a 14oz sirloin steak which she described as “the perfect way to cook a medium steak”.
Also on the menu are a range of great milkshakes and a wide range of drinks to suit all tastes.
The staff in the restaurant were constantly friendly and only to happy to help, service was also fast and we were not kept waiting too long for the meal.
Panama Jacks is the ideal place to go if you are celebrating a birthday or just want a relaxed, not too expensive meal out with friends. The location is ideal, being walking distance from Foregate Street and the bus station making it easy to get to and from the restaurant.
I thoroughly enjoyed my meal at Panama Jacks and would recommend it to anyone who wants a good burger, steak or ribs in Worcester.
