A GANG of teenage yobs went on a rampage in St Johns, damaging ten cars in what a district judge described as "wanton vandalism."
The three defendants, two youths and an 18 year-old man, admitted ten charges of criminal damage relating to the spree of damage in the early hours of April 18 last year.
Worcester Magistrates Court heard how the vandals were seen by witnesses in the St John's area of Worcester kicking cars, smashing windows and wing mirrors, causing damage worth a total of £2,642.
Barry Newton, representing the youths, said, although they only claimed to have damaged some of the cars, they both accepted that they were involved in a 'joint enterprise.'
Mark Seward, representing Phoenix Kester, of Goodrest Close, Worcester, said: "He has no previous convictions and he knows he let himself down and his mother which means a lot to him.
"He works hard in a full-time job and we ask that you take this into consideration when determining your verdict."
District Judge Nigel Cadbury said: "This was wanton and pointless vandalism and though it may seem like nothing, it may well have been very difficult for these victims to deal with.
"Think about the damage, especially because it happened in the middle of the night when young men your age shouldn't be out on the streets.
"In light of the fact that you have behaved yourselves between the offence taking place and today, I have been as lenient as I can be given the circumstances." Judge Cadbury handed out ten-week curfews to all three of the defendants, with the two youths being given community orders to carry out unpaid work.
The youths, who cannot be named due to legal restrictions, were fined £115 while Kester was fined £250 for the damage.
Summing up the case, Judge Cadbury said: "I hope that this is the last time you are before a court."
The trio appeared at court on January 10.
