WORCESTER News reporter Grace Walton has been practising hard over the festive season for the annual charity dancing competition, Strictly Worcestershire, set to take place on May 23.
She said: "There is no greater feeling than nailing a few steps and putting together a routine. I was looking through videos the other day of my first dance lesson with Sharon Tilki. I had to laugh at how little coordination I had! However, it is reassuring to see the difference and improvements I have made since October.
"The festive period did not stop me from trying out some new choreography with my 90-year-old grandad. He was teaching me the waltz – a dance he used to perform with my nan.
"My dance partner, Jack Tingle, and I are delighted to have been offered a space to rehearse in. The generosity from Worcester Community Trust will allow us to practice in one of their halls once a week. Worcester Community Trust is a charity that runs nine different projects across the city and manages six hubs, working with those who need support. Councillor Jabba Riaz, the mayor of Worcester, supports Worcester Community Trust as one of his selected charities.
"I plan to visit my chosen charity over the next coming weeks, Headway Worcestershire, which supports people with brain injuries. It will be inspiring to meet its clients and get an insight into what happens behind the scenes.
