A BIG hearted fundraiser had a busy festive period raising money for a charity that helped save his life.

Mick ‘Chicken’ Worrall stopped by at the Worcester News offices just before Christmas, and has been out and about this week collecting money for Air Ambulance.

Mr Worrall’s trike pulled a special Christmas sleigh, complete with a Santa and elves, and Mr Worrall offered people the chance to sit on both for a donation to the air ambulance or his other chosen charity this year, Acorns Children’s Hospice.

The 72-year-old, from Worcester, said: “This is my second year out with the sleigh, which I built. I have been fundraising for 30 years and raised £15,000 for Midlands Air Ambulance. I was in a crash in a Range Rover on the A449 20 years ago - the air ambulance saved my life. I was put on this Earth to fundraise for them.”

Mr Worrall added that he had also been out on nights in the run up to Christmas to collect crash, with people enjoying seeing his slieigh lit up.

In recent years Mr Worrall has featured in the Worcester News for organising the Charity Chicken Run with wife Jacqueline. In the event, held annually, the group of bikers traditionally set off from Stourport, and deliver gifts to children at the hospice.
