A ROAD workman was hurt after he was hit by a safety barrier which was supposed to be protecting him.
The man, believed to be in his 20s, was treated for leg injuries after he was struck by the plastic barrier at around 1pm yesterday in Lower Lickhill Road, Stourport.
A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman said: "The barrier had been in place to warn the public of the road works taking place and also to ensure the safety of the men working there.
"It appears the barrier was struck by a passing lorry; the barrier was thrown by the force of the collision and struck the man."
The injured man, who was part of a team working on the road, had his legs put in a splint before being transferred by ambulance to Worcestershire Royal Hospital.
No one else was injured during the incident.
