BEFORE the scheduled programme on September 14, a short tribute was paid to Luciano Pavarotti, with his recording of Nessum Dorma.
Under the heading His And Hers, Ron and Margaret Morter presented recorded music they enjoy listening to.
Among Ron's choice were movements from Sibelius' Fifth Symphony, Schubert's Death And The Maiden, and Beethoven's Appasionata Sonata, played by Murray Perhais, Maid With The Flaxon Hair by Debussy, played by Moura Lympany, Peter Warlock's Capriole Suite, and the jig from St Paul's Suite, by Gustav Holst, this recording by the Oxford String Orchestra, conducted by the couple's son, Tome Morter.
Margaret included Mozart's Rondo a la Turca, the Flower Duet from Lakme, Elgar's Salut d'Amor, part of Bizet's L'Ariesienne, and Victoria de Los Angeles singing items from Canteloube's Chants D'Auvergberne, including Ballero. She also chose Beethoven's famous work, which one of her sons, when very young, referred to as "furry Elsie".
