THE Sohodolls make the kind of music quite rightly described by critics as "haughty electro-sleaze".

The band, hailing from London, boast eclectic influences.

"We love rock and roll, electro, glam, 77-British punk, jazz and hip hop," says lead singer Maya von Doll.

"All these extremes make our music ribbed. We don't fit easily into pigeon-holes - not in music and not in life.

"We feel our generation has been cheated. Modern life has conspired to make us dumb, numb and unquestioning. We want people to tap into their primal senses again: lust, anger, love, fear, compassion, happiness and humour.

"Lyrically and musically the songs on this album express all of these feelings and instincts." The Sohodolls released their debut album, Ribbed Music For The Numb Generation, on Filthy Pretty Records on Monday.

They are playing at the Wolverhampton Little Civic on Saturday, October 20, and the Worcester News has a pair of tickets to give away.

To be in with a chance of winning them answer the following question: What is the name of the Sohodolls' lead singer?

Send answers to Lauren Rogers, Worcester News Editorial, Berrows House, Hylton Road, Worcester, WR2 5JX, with your name and contact phone number.
