A PUB which was devastated by the summer floods has re-opened.
The Fox Inn at Bransford, which has been closed for three months after the adjacent River Teme burst its banks, has re-opened following a £650,000 refit.
"Everything is new," said Karen Hayden, who manages the Fox with her partner Dave Swinburn. "The builders stripped the walls down to the brick and started again. There's a new bar, seating, pumps and all the kitchen equipment. They did a complete renovation job."
The Teme flooded the property on Tuesday, June 26 and then subsided. But just as the pub was drying out and workmen were preparing to move in, the river broke its banks again on Friday, July 20, this time to devastating effect.
The couple first managed the Fox from 1994-98, before returning in 2004. Never before had they been flooded out.
"We're just glad to be open again," said Mr Swinburn.
So it's glasses raised to that and here's hoping for a dry winter. Weather-wise only, of course.
