A COUNTY councillor is set to travel on buses crammed full of school children.

Coun Derek Prodger, who is cabinet member for environment, will stand with children on the 44a Powick to Dyson Perrins School in Malvern, today.

He will also take a look at the 44 service which regularly drops children off at to Chase Technology College, also in Malvern, too late for registration even though it is timetabled to get them in on time.

The idea for the bus ride was put forward by county councillor for Powick Tom Wells at the weekend after the Worcester News higlighted the problems school children were experiencing.

Coun Prodger said then that he would travel on the bus with Coun Wells and the school children. He also said he would review the services, which are run by First, if he feels they are not running adequately.

Meanwhile, parents are being invited to attend a meeting at Powick Parish Hall to discuss their concerns about the bus services with transport officers from Worcestershire County Council. The meeting takes place at 6pm on Friday.
