A BIG-HEARTED six-year-old has donated toys to a children's pre-school after vandals destroyed its playground.

Indi Archdale said when her daughter Meg read last week's Worcester News article about Whittington Pre-School's play equipment being smashed up by thugs, she was "outraged" and wanted to help.

"When she saw the photo and the headline she was so upset," said the 39-year-old, of Lansdowne, Worcester.

"She saw the little girl in the photo and said she looks like she's crying - they can have our roundabout and slide as we don't play with them any more'.

"She's got a big heart for a little person.

"She kept the paper for about four days and showed everybody that came to the house and said look what's happened to these poor children'.

"She was outraged about it and so was I."

Ms Archdale said Meg's four-year-old brother Jamie was also upset about the vandalism, which occurred over the weekend beginning Friday, September 7.

Almost all the equipment in the playground, outside the village hall in Church Lane, was damaged and the site littered with cigarette ends and bottles.

Manager Julie Morgan said the group's 32 children did not understand that there were not enough funds to replace the equipment at the site, which was built by the father of a former member.

She was over the moon to hear about Meg's offer.

"It's brilliant because we can't afford to replace everything," she said.

"The children have been very upset."
