IT was a real joy to work with Alan Titchmarsh again recently on his new ITV daytime chat show which aims to celebrate "the best of British".
My role for the programme was to talk about Beatles memorabilia.
It is 45 years since the lads from Liverpool hit the headlines with Love Me Do and anything associated with them makes huge money - particularly since John and George are sadly no longer with us.
I was talking to Alan along with a lady collector from London. Now, I know that John Lennon's psychedelic Rolls Royce Phantom sold for about £1.75 million and the white piano on which he wrote Imagine made nearly £1.45 million; I am also aware that posters can make thousands, sometimes tens of thousands of pounds but some of the lesser items our lady collector had brought along amazed me.
I can remember as a boy having a game that was basically a piece of card with four bald Beatles on it. On top of the card was a piece of clear plastic that held in place metal filings that you moved over their heads using a magnet, thus creating the famous Beatle bob.
Now, I threw mine away as I suspect many of you also did - but I wish I hadn't when she went on to tell me that they are now worth between £1,000 and £1,500!
