FLOWERS left in memory of University of Worcester student Thomas Jones have been removed from Sabrina Bridge.
The 18-year-old went missing last month after a night out during fresher’s week, prompting a major search that ended with his body being found in the River Severn.
Following his death, the bridge, near to Tom’s last known whereabouts, was covered in tributes from friends, family members and well-wishers.
Earlier this week, following discussions with Tom’s family, Worcestershire County Council and Worcester City Council have agreed to remove all the tributes.
Worcester City Council told the Worcester News, potted flowers will be planted in Cripplegate Park as a lasting memorial to Tom and cut flowers are being turned into mulch.
Non-floral tributes such as poems, photographs and lanterns are being stored by the city council for Tom’s family.
On Tuesdays evening, in Tom’s hometown, Bromsgrove, a memorial football match took place at the Victoria Ground in Birmingham Road.
More than 1,641 turned out for the match for the former player, which saw Sporting face the Royal Air Force Football Association, beating them 2-1.
More than £7,100 was raised and the proceeds will be used at the discretion of Tom’s family.
The student’s death is currently being treated as unexplained, and an inquest into his death opened on Wednesday, October 3.
