FROM punk princess, to cult stage actress, to high priestess of TV, Toyah Willcox has enjoyed a varied and exciting career.

And now she has a date at the Evesham Arts Centre, which is great news for her local fans.

A spokesman said: Toyah is a uniquely gifted performer. Charismatic, outspoken and impossible to categorise, she is one of Britain’s iconic household names – an award-winning rock legend as well as a much-loved stage and screen actress and music composer.

“Toyah will perform an unplugged set of her well-loved hits and classic songs - and recalls stories from her colourful career.

“From filming pop videos on horseback at 5am to acting alongside Katharine Hepburn and Laurence Olivier, this is a show which lifts the lid on working in the entertainment business.”

In a career spanning over 40 years Toyah has amassed thirteen top 40 singles, recorded twenty-four albums, written two books, appeared in over forty stage plays, acted in fifteen feature films and presented hundreds of television programmes.

The spokesman added: “To this day music runs through her veins and Toyah’s annual concert diary is packed with summer festivals, acoustic shows and electric gigs with her full band.

“Her transatlantic rock band Toyah and The Humans featuring Bill Rieflin (King Crimson, REM) and Chris Wong have released three albums.

“The most recent, Strange Tales was supported with US and UK concert dates and their track Get In Your Car will be covered and released as a single by King Crimson in 2017. “

Toyah’s most recent musical collaboration is with vocals on the Dodson and Fogg track, Drinking From The Gun which she also co-wrote.”

The concert takes place on Saturday, September 29.
