MORE people have been spotted riding giraffe sculptures in Worcester city centre despite a charity's plea over the risk of damaging the artworks.
A reader sent the Worcester News this picture of a woman sitting on top of the giraffe outside the entrance to the Crowngate Shopping Centre in the High Street.
This follows numerous reports of people climbing the sculptures in the city centre since the Worcester Stands Tall giraffe trail began on July 9.
Two of the giraffes have had to be removed for repairs due to damage caused by people attacking them.
The Worcester Stands Tall project is raising money for St Richard’s Hospice’s Build 2020 appeal to expand its premises and care for more people.
Sara Matthews, Worcester Stands Tall project manager, said: “We are thrilled to see so many people out enjoying meeting our lovely giraffe sculptures, however we are asking everyone to treat them with love and respect too.
“We would like to remind people not to climb on the sculptures – both for their own safety and to protect the giraffes.
“Each sculpture will be going to auction in October to raise money for St Richard’s Hospice – so we need to ensure they stay looking as fabulous as they do now. Thanks to everyone for their support.”
