AN ANNUAL car show is returning to the city for its 12th year.

15 dealerships will display 42 cars in the city's high street as part of Worcester Motor Show on Saturday, June 23.

A talent show for local performers is also being held in Cathedral Square as part of the show.

Louise Avery, organiser of the car show, said: "People should come along as we have a selection of cars from local dealers and we have entertainment in Cathedral Square thanks to Pershore Motor Group.

"It includes a talent contest and other activities, including face painting and Nuffield Health [gym] are doing mini MOT health checks.

"It's a good opportunity to see cars. It's not as intimidating as a showroom, it gives people a chance to see other brands.

"People can have an informal chat about the car without the pressure of a showroom."

The show, which has been set up by the Worcester News, also gives car dealers a chance to speak to people who might not otherwise enter their showrooms.

This year's event will not include classic cars as Worcester Business Improvement District, which usually organises the older vehicles, is not involved in arranging the show.

However, cars from a range of dealers will be parked along the high street, from Elgar's statue to The Cross, on Saturday.

Pershore Motor Group's talent show will take place in Cathedral Square from noon to 2pm, followed by an afternoon workout with live music.

The winners of the talent show will be announced at 4pm, with the top performer set to win £500.

The weekly market in the high street will also be held alongside the show, with stallholders selling crafts, artisan products, fine foods, vintage clothes, gifts, ethnic and fairtrade items, handcrafted jewellery, street food, art, organic soaps and fragrances and shabby chic items.

There will be a range of cars on display during the day, including Vauxhalls, Suzukis, Skodas, Citroens and Mazdas.

The overall event will take place between 9am and 5pm.
