Mention the name Chippendale and most people think of either a famous 18th century London cabinet manufacturer, or a modern group of chaps who disrobe for ladies' pleasure.
A carved gilt wood-framed mirror is coming up in my September sale and is as close to a design by Thomas Chippendale as you can get. Value? Unfortunately the frame really is in poor order but I'm sure this will not be too off-putting to serious buyers and it is certainly going to make several thousands of pounds, and who knows watch this space.
