FOUR people have been sentenced for their part in violent disorder which erupted at a traveller site near Evesham as police came under attack.

The four from Cleeve Prior, Evesham, appeared at Worcester Crown Court for sentencing on Friday after pleading guilty to affray.

Two men, a woman and a 17-year-old boy were charged in relation to an incident of violent disorder in Cleeve Prior in February 2016, which occurred after an officer pursued a vehicle onto the site. During the incident, police officers were attacked by having stones thrown at them and a police vehicle was damaged.

Richard Stephen Johnson (known as Ricky), aged 64 of Evesham Road, Cleeve Prior, was sentenced to 15 months in prison, suspended for 24 months, 150 hours of unpaid work and a rehabilitation activity requirement.

Julie Lamb, aged 40 of Evesham Road, Cleeve Prior, was sentenced to 17 months in prison, suspended for 24 months, and 170 hours of unpaid work.

Chance Gill (also known as Chance Johnson), aged 18 of Evesham Road, Cleeve Prior, was sentenced to 20 months in prison, suspended for 24 months, and 200 hours of unpaid work.

A 17-year-old boy, who cannot be named for legal reasons, was sentenced to a 12 month youth rehabilitation order and a 12 month supervision order.

Policing Commander for South Worcestershire, Superintendent Kevin Purcell said: "It is completely unacceptable that police officers working hard to keep our communities safe should face this sort of treatment.

"I hope this demonstrates that West Mercia Police will not tolerate this kind of behaviour, and will always take action to ensure the perpetrators are brought to justice."
