A CARE home in Worcester is inviting anyone who would normally dine alone on Christmas Day to join their residents for lunch.
Latimer Court, in Darwin Avenue, will open its doors to elderly people from the community for Christmas lunch on December 25, to help tackle loneliness.
The care home will be decked out in cheerful decorations and its dining rooms and lounges will be full of festive cheer.
Guests will be treated to a traditional Christmas lunch and refreshments in the dining rooms, and they will have a chance to chat to the home’s staff, residents and enjoy the Christmas atmosphere and merriment.
Lisa Bradley, general manager at Latimer Court, said: “We don’t want the elderly in our community to dine alone this Christmas and we are delighted to be able offer this service.
“Anyone interested in joining us for Christmas day will need to book, as places are limited, and you will need to reserve your place at the Latimer Court Christmas Lunch table.
“The day is always a great success, and we are keen to do more to help those who feel lonely or cut off from the rest of the community.”
Spaces may be limited but the home is keen to welcome as many people as they can, so call, Karen Laydon on 01905 363270 or email karen.laydon@barchester.com.
Latimer Court is an 80-bed home which provides residential, nursing
and dementia care services.
The ‘Don’t Dine Alone’ initiative was launched by Barchester Healthcare group, which runs Latimer Court, to reach out to isolated or vulnerable members of the community.
