AN initiative to encourage recycling and sustainability in Worcester have been recognised in the international Green Apple Environment awards.
Two joint initiatives by Worcester City Council and the University of Worcester scooped prestigious prizes in the awards, presented at the Houses of Parliament.
An initiative to encourage students to recycle scored a Green Apple prize in the Local Authority category while the University and council won their second award for the Go Green Week, held at Easter.
Councillor Adrian Gregson, the authority's leader, said: “It is great to win recognition for the imaginative ideas that went into both of these scheme. It’s good to see this partnership becoming such a success.”
