THE Mayor of Worcester is getting ready to swap his chain of office for a ripcord.
Councillor Steve Mackay has announced he will be joining army paratroopers to jump out of a plane at 12,000ft – in the hope of raising £500 for his three chosen charities, Headway Worcestershire, Victim Support and Onside Advocacy.
The Mayor is calling on city residents to sign up to sponsor him.
“I do have a few butterflies, but it’s a personal challenge and a great way of raising funds for three really important charities," he said.
“It’s a slightly daunting experience for me, but I’ll be doing a tandem jump with an experience paratrooper strapped to my back, so I’m sure everything will go well."
