I have always lived in Worcester.
When I was a child I lived in Crown Street, just off the Droitwich Road.
Back then we were surrounded by fields and stables. I loved it. My friends and I spent all of our spare time with the horses, swapping stable jobs for the opportunity to ride.
I enjoyed school but jumped at the opportunity to leave at 15.
At the time all I wanted to be was a hairdresser, then an advert for library assistants caught my eye. I have now worked for Worcestershire's Library Service for 51 years.
When I got married we moved to St John's into a new house built by my father-in-law.
I moved from the city library to St John's Library in the early 80's and have been at the present library since it opened in 1987.
My job has changed a lot over the years and it's certainly not just about books anymore but it is a very rewarding job and you get to meet all sorts of people which is what I enjoy most.
St John's has a lovely village feel and Worcester is very friendly.
We've got all of the shops you could possibly want, the riverside is beautiful and everywhere is accessible. My husband and I have no desire to move, why would we?
