FAMILIES are being invited to the Mayor of Worcester's annual family fun day being held during half term week.
The Mayor of Worcester, Councillor Steve Mackay's fun day will be taking place at the Guildhall on Thursday, October 26.
The usual council meetings at the venue will make way for face painting, games and sports - with a bouncy castle taking centre stage.
Cllr Mackay said: "Our family fun day is a great opportunity for Worcester’s younger residents to let their hair down and have some half term fun – without it costing their parents an arm and a leg.
“The Guildhall is a really beautiful building with an incredible history – so if you’ve never visited before, then do come along and enjoy everything which it has to offer."
There will be opportunities to be photographed with the Mayor and ceremonial officers, in return for a charitable donation.
There will also be opportunities to step back in history and visit the famous holding cells, used when the Guildhall originally housed the courts of justice. For many years, the Court Room witnessed scenes of high drama. Prisoners, many of whom were sentenced to death, were led up to it through a trap door in the middle of the floor, and once sentenced, were taken down again to await their fate.
Entry to the family fun day is free, with opportunities to donate to the mayor's selected charities.
Charities being supported this year include Headway, Victim Support and Onside Advocacy.
Tesco is sponsoring this year's event, and will be providing refreshments.
The event takes place between 10am and 3pm.
