HUNDREDS of visitors flocked to Burford House, in Tenbury Wells, Worcestershire for its second annual motor show on Sunday.
More than 80 vintage cars were on display, including a rare 1934 Austin Seven Special, a Lagonda, a Rolls Royce Ghost Tourer, Sunbeam Rapier, a number of Jaguars, TVRs, and a whole host of classic MGs.
The event, organised Burford House Garden Store, took place at the Georgian stately home, which has stunning gardens. The country house was open for free tours by the Burford House Garden Angels; a group of volunteers who tend to the gardens and grounds in their spare time.
The cars were accompanied by Burford’s renowned collection of clematis.
Visitors learned that a National Clematis Collection was once displayed within the four-acre gardens, and that more recently the gardens have been revived to their former glory by the Angels, who have planted over three hundred clematis plants chosen from over a hundred different varieties.
Burford House Garden Store manager Paul Benson, said: "The motor show was once again a big hit, the weather was kind and we had plenty of people not only looking at the impressive selection of classic cars - but also venturing through the house and into the gardens, spending time enjoying the clematis. So many have expressed interest in growing their own varieties – particularly clematis Mikelite and clematis Blue Sensation – within their own gardens, so we’ve decided to go back to our roots and grow clematis on site for customers to pick up from the store."
Clematis Mikelite and Blue Sensation are both available from Burford House Garden Store in four litre pots, priced at £14.99 each. Entry to the Burford House gardens is free, and any visitor donations are greatly appreciated. All donations go to Greenfingers, a charity that creates magical gardens at children’s hospices across the UK.
Plans for next year’s motor show (Sunday, August 5 2018) are already underway, and anyone interested in registering their vehicle can email enquiries@gardenstoreonline.co.uk.
