Not that long ago I was lucky enough to play golf at Turnberry on the Ayrshire coast. The only Tiger I resembled was Winnie the Pooh's mate, Tigger, who is not noted for his golf.
I addressed the ball on the sixth tee and struck a lusty blow - I looked up expecting to see the ball going tracer like to the green. To my horror my vicious hook pulled the ball onto the beach where it ricocheted from rock pool to seaweed.
As I paddled considering my next shot I looked up to see the Isle of Ailsa Craig in the distance. Now, not many people know that all curling stones, which if my memory serves me right, our Scottish lassies won an Olympic gold medal at in 2002, are made from the rock of Ailsa Craig.
I have the one pictured right entered in my next sale which will make between £50 and £100. I suspect the potential purchaser will use it as a doorstop rather than form the Worcestershire Olympic Curling Team.
