WORCESTER Cathedral was the venue for the ordination of 13 people who will now serve in parishes across the Worcester dicocese.
The Bishop of Worcester presided at the service on Sunday, July 1, assisted by the Bishop of Dudley and Bishop John Ruhumuliza, while the Very Rev Peter Atkinson, Dean of Worcester, preached at the service.
Five of the people were ordained as deacons and have now entered their first year of training as curates while the other eight, who have already completed their first year, became priests. Holy Trinity and St James in Malvern, St Marks in Cherry Orchard in Worcester, and St John's in Dudley will be served by new deacons along with the benefices of Martley and Wichenford and Broadway with Wickhamford.
The benefice of Pershore with Pinvin, Wick and Birlingham and the church of St Martin and St Peter in Worcester will benefit from new priests along with churches in Hanley Swan and Welland, Upton-upon-Severn, Bromsgrove, Redditch and Dudley.
