A MAN who attacked a mother and her son in their own home has been sentenced to five months in jail.

Worcester magistrates were told how Dale Howard, aged 19, of Larch Road, Tolladine, Worcester, punched in the face a boy who had been mowing his parents' lawn, before pushing, punching and kicking his mother in the back.

Dale Sheehan, prosecuting, described how on Sunday, April 8, Howard entered the garden where one of the victims had been mowing the lawn, and had asked to borrow something.

Mr Sheeham said Howard became aggressive, was slurring his words, and appeared drunk. The victim was then hit in the face in what seemed to be a unprovoked attack.

The boy's mother came out of the house and told Howard to get off her property. He then pushed her, punched her and kicked her in the back.

Mr Sheeham said: "She told him she was going to call the police. He hit her in the face. It appears that he was a complete stranger in her home."

Amer Hussain, defending, said Howard had been out drinking early in the evening with friends and had gone to the house to borrow something, but was told to go away.

Mr Hussain said that because of the amount he had drunk his memory of the incident was not good, but he apologises to the family.

District judge Bruce Morgan said: "This is a man who came on to someone's property. He assaulted the boy and his mother. He just attacked her, hit her in the face," he added.

Howard admitted one count of assault and one count of assault by battery.

He is already serving 18 months in prison for another crime and had an extra five months added to his sentence.
