HUNDREDS of Worcester people have now joined our campaign to save the city's ambulance control centre.

Almost 700 Worcester News readers have now signed our petition urging West Midlands Ambulance Services NHS Trust to keep our 999 control room local.

And our petition is growing by at least 100 names a day.

Today we print more views from city people - all of them urging the trust to abandon its plans to have just two regional call centres in Brierley Hill and Stafford, with a support centre in Leamington Spa.

Ambulance call takers have already vowed to fight with a vengeance plans to shut the Bransford Emergency Operations Centre. And the message to the ambulance trust is clear - the people of Worcester want their control room to stay local because it makes them feel safer.

People can send their comments on the proposals to West Midlands Ambulance Service headquarters, EOC reconfiguration consultation, Millennium Point, Waterfront Business Park, Brierley Hill, Dudley, West Midlands DY5 1LX, or by e-mail to consultation@ wmas.nhs.uk You can sign up to our petition by filling in the coupon printed on page 13 today or by logging on to www.worcesternews.co.uk/news/onlinepetition and following the instructions.
