WORCESTER people have less than a week left to sign a petition urging the Post Office not to relocate a city branch.

So far 230 people have made their voices heard by clicking on to the city council website or visiting the Guildhall to sign it.

But there is still time left to tell the Post Office what you think about the plan to move the Foregate Street branch into WH Smith in the High Street.

The petition urges the Post Office to either scrap the planned move, or ensure if it does go ahead it is placed on the ground floor.

The Post Office has said it wants to relocate the store to the first floor of W H Smith in a bid to save money.

Coun Geoff Williams said: "A total of 230 signatures so far is good, but it would be really good if we can get it to 300.

"I believe people should take every opportunity to log on to the site or visit the Guildhall to sign it. It is a way of demonstrating the strength of local feeling there is over the relocation of the post office.

A Post Office spokesman said it would "take any feedback into consideration", but stressed the move is certain to go ahead.
