AN 83-year-old man died after falling over and hurting his head at his home in Worcester.
John Ballinger died of a head injury after falling badly in the kitchen of his home in Hudson Close, Lower Wick.
At an inquest in Stourport-on-Severn, Worcestershire coroner Victor Round said Mr Ballinger's wife Anna, who is a retired nurse, heard a noise and found him lying on the floor with an injury to his nose.
He said: "She called an ambulance and when she got back into the kitchen from the phone, he had got himself up into a sitting position."
Mr Ballinger was taken to the Worcestershire Royal Hospital, Worcester, where he died on Sunday.
