WELL-known local radio broadcaster Dave Bradley will be hosting the ceremony for the Worcester News education awards this summer.
The awards are aimed at highlighting those who work tirelessly to improve the futures of our young people across the county.
The Worcester News has teamed up with the University of Worcester to celebrate the hard work, quality, passion and dedication we know exist in our nurseries, schools and colleges.
Dave Bradley was born and brought up in Worcestershire, and spent 26 years in the newspaper industry with the Berrows group before going on the airwaves.
He joined BBC Hereford and Worcester as part of the Saturday sports team in 1989, and his radio career has ended with him presenting just about every show on the station. He also writes a weekly column in the Worcester News.
Recently retired as an active cricketer, he now commentates on Worcestershire County Cricket Club matches during the summer, and the Worcester Warriors in the winter, and is also the clubs match announcer.
He also enjoys a night out watching the Worcester Wolves or a trip to Worcester Races.
Married to Mandi, with two grown-up daughters, a step-son, and two very energetic grand-sons, Bradders says he is fortunate to have been able to work at many sporting venues in this country and in Europe, and to meet so many fascinating and famous people, not just in the world of sport.
The ceremony in June that he will preside over is a black-tie gala event where awards will be presented in a series of categories such as primary school of the year, headteacher of the year or newcomer of the year.
Support staff will also be recognised along with those working with pupils with special educational needs and a special unsung hero award will recognise those who go the extra mile.
Nominations, which close on Friday, April 7, can be made by visiting worcesternews.co.uk/educationawards/nominate.
