WYCHAVON has been named as the second most desirable place to live in rural Britain according to a survey.

The 2017 Halifax Rural Areas Quality of Life Survey results were announced today (Saturday) with Wychavon scoring particularly well when it came to life expectancy.

Around 95 percent of adults in the district were said to have been in good health, whilst residents also have some of the biggest homes in rural Britain.

Homes in Wychavon average just over six habitable rooms, of which 98 percent have central heating and 92 percent of all houses have superfast broadband.

Wychavon tourism officer Angela Tidmarsh said: "Wychavon is a great place to live. I have just been driving around the Blossom Trail and I thought where else could you find this? I think it is absolutely brilliant

"The quality of life for people here is amazing, the employment rate is very good.

"There is great variety in the district from beautiful countryside to bustling towns and we have very good transport links.

"There is nowhere else like it, when people come and visit they remember it.

"The history and the heritage of the area is amazing."

The South East and the South West of England combined bagged 20 places on Halifax's list of the top 50 rural places with the best quality of life in 2017.

Councillor Linda Robinson, leader of Wychavon District Council, said: “We’re delighted that once again Wychavon has been confirmed as one of the best rural places to live in the country.

"It’s obviously no surprise to those of us who call it home as we know it has much to offer like beautiful surroundings and a strong sense of community spirit.

"As with all things in life there’s always room for improvement and we’re committed to working with our partners to do all we can to make Wychavon an even better place to live, work and visit."
