THE Courtyard in Hereford will be marking Dementia Awareness Week with their annual Remember Me event.
A spokesman said: "Remember Me aims to not only raise awareness about dementia but to also provide a fun filled day for people living with dementia, their carers, family and friends to come together at The Courtyard. Activities on the day will include drumming and singing workshops, a Big Draw event and the very first Miss Kitty’s Spectacular Tea Dance.
"The day offers a great opportunity for people living with dementia to get involved in many aspects of what The Courtyard provides as a community venue. Carers are able to share experiences and ideas, with professionals and volunteers coming together to network and offer information and advice."
Penny Allen, adult participation manager, added: “Remember Me is a wonderful, vibrant, engaging day, giving people living with dementia a chance to celebrate their creativity in so many different ways. Often life can be so focused on the limitations and challenges that living with dementia presents, Remember Me is time to come together and share in new experiences, discovering creative ways to communicate, and most importantly having fun together. Whether that is round the drawing table, singing together, or even taking a twirl across the dance floor at Miss Kitty's Spectacular Tea Dance.”
This event is run by The Courtyard in partnership with The Alzheimer’s Society. It has been made possible through funding from The Big Lottery Reaching Communities Fund.
Remember Me will be at The Courtyard on Wednesday May 17, from 11am to 4pm. For more information contact the Box Office on 01432 340555 or visit www.courtyard.org.uk.
