THERE'S simply no excuse to be stuck for words in Bromsgrove, when thanks to the town's WORDS initiative, leading writers are heading to the Artrix.
Chairman of WORDS, Margaret Cooper said: "WORDS was started 39 years ago and, despite being entirely self-supporting, is still going strong, managing to bring to Worcestershire a whole range of top men and women whose business is the spoken and written word – from novelist to sports journalist, from columnist to playwright."
Next up will be Daljit Nagra, an award-winning poet who explores the idealism and reality of multicultural Britain "with wit, intelligence and a sense of mischief".
Daljit is currently BBC Radio 4's poet-in-residence, and he will perform on Sunday April 9, from 7.30pm.
David Crystal is billed as a "foremost writer and lecturer on the English Language with a worldwide reputation and over 100 books to his name".
He will take a bow on Sunday June 11,
Guardian columnist, Lucy Mangan has written books about her childhood and family. Her writing style "is both feminist and humorous", and she will appear on Sunday September 24.
Maureen Bell, a book historian and university lecturer, says she will be "aided by a heap of old books" when she gives a talk on readers across the centuries, on Sunday November 12.
