A PLAYGROUND will be re-opening with a brand new look this weekend.
Children's favourites Peppa Pig and George Pig will be cutting a ribbon at Little Squirrels nursery in Shrawley, near Worcester, to officially open the revamped playground.
The new facility, funded by a lottery grant, has been described as a community project and is open for the public to use outside of business hours.
A spring fayre and farmers market are also being held to celebrate the official opening.
Money raised from the event will be used to further improve facilities at the nursery, which had previously been branded ‘inadequate’ by watchdog Ofsted.
However within six months under new ownership, fortunes at the nursery had been turned around, and in its most recent Ofsted inspection, carried out in March 2016, it was rated ‘good’.
Joanne Smith, owner, is looking forward to the celebrations, which start at the parish hall on Saturday at 10.30am and will continue until 2pm.
“When we took ownership of the nursery, we kept on most of the old staff and provided them with new training. We’re very proud of the result," she said.
“[On Saturday] there will be lots of locally sourced produce, cakes and crafts on offer as well as a tombola," she said. "Any money raised will go towards developing a new baby area and slide for kids to use."
