WORCESTERSHIRE'S police and crime commissioner has paid tribute to the heroic PC knifed to death in Westminster's terror attack.
John Campion says society is "indebted" to Keith Palmer, a dad-of-three who was savagely stabbed by maniac Khalid Masood.
Since the attack in London the Worcester News has reported how West Mercia Police has upped its armed patrols in a bid to reassure the public.
Mr Campion yesterday said police resources will continue to be "prioritised accordingly", with the national threat level still graded 'severe'.
Force chiefs have also reiterated that there is no "specific threat" to the county, but say its firearms are available "24 hours a day".
Mr Campion said: "The commitment and dedication demonstrated by West Mercia officers and staff is something I see day in, day out.
"I'd like to reassure the public that they work extremely hard to keep our communities safe.
"The chief constable and I are committed to ensuring resources are provided to tackle all types of crime.
"These resources are prioritised accordingly to ensure that all that is needed is done to prevent threats to our communities.
"Our thoughts remain with the victims of the attack in Westminster - we'll be forever indebted to those that make the ultimate sacrifice to keep us safe."
Chief constable Anthony Bangham added: "A week ago our country was shaken by the events in Westminster.
"This will, no doubt, have caused our communities to reflect and some people may feel fearful.
"To those people, I'd like to reassure you that we are committed to keeping you and your family safe and there is no intelligence to suggest a specific threat to our communities."
"Community policing remains at the very heart of all we do and our local policing approach is supported by an armed capability, available 24 hours a day."
Killer Khalid Masood was seen driving around Westminster in the lead-up to the terror attack that saw him plough a 4×4 into crowds at 76mph, according to reports.
Frame-by-frame examination of CCTV footage by police has revealed the astonishing speed at which Masood, 52, caused carnage — killing four people and wounding more than 50 during his rampage.
