POLICE briefly blocked off a busy Worcester road today as they responded to a report that a bag had been snatched.
Officers arrested a man in Foregate Street, after three police cars had stopped in the middle of Castle Street at around noon.
A police spokesman said: "Police were called to a premises to in The Cross in Worcester shortly after noon today following a report of an attempted bag theft.
"A 31-year-old man from Worcester was arrested and remains in police custody at this time."
An eyewitness said police wrestled with a man in Castle Street before taking him away.
The road was cleared shortly afterwards.
