AFTER CCTV footage failed to identify a group of people who seriously assaulted a man walking home in Evesham, police are asking late-night revellers to cast their minds back.

The lone victim was subjected to the un-provoked attack by four men and two women two months ago. He was punched on the head from behind and then kicked while on the ground, between Waterside and Port Street on Sunday, April 29 between 1am and 2pm.

A police spokesman said: "We were hopeful that CCTV would enable us to view the assault and identify which of a number of groups in the area at the time was responsible, but this has not been possible.

"We increasingly depend on helpful information from the public coupled with visual confirmation via CCTV. In this instance, we will have to rely solely on members of the public coming forward - perhaps even from some of the groups who were seen at the time."

Anyone who saw the assault, near the public toilets in Port Street, or who has any information they believe will help the enquiry - should call police on 08457 444 888, quoting 341S/010507. Information can also be given - anonymously - to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
