POLICE are asking communities to remain vigilant following the incidents in London and Glasgow in recent days.

The national threat level was raised from severe to critical on Saturday, June 30.

In line with the raising of the threat level, West Mercia Constabulary has reviewed policing activity across the force area, including at our railway stations and key locations.

Assistant Chief Constable (Specialist Operations) Simon Chesterman said: "There is no specific threat to the West Mercia area, however public safety is paramount and recent events have highlighted the need for us to be prepared. We appeal to all communities in the force area to remain calm but vigilant."

If a member of the public believes a vehicle or package to be suspicious, we would urge them not to approach it but to contact West Mercia Constabulary on 08457 444888, the confidential Anti Terrorist Hotline on 0800 789 321 or, in an emergency, call 999.
