MISS Worcester is celebrating after being placed in the final seven at the Miss England 2007 contest.

Jodi Edwards was up against 90 other girls from across the country at the three-day final in Leicester.

And although she did not win the crown - which would have seen her go on to compete in the Miss World final - the 18-year-old from Cresswell Close in Fernhill Heath said it was a fantastic experience.

"I had an amazing time," she said.

"It wasn't too nervewracking but I found the event heavy going - I slept for 20 hours when I got home.

"I didn't go to win or even to get through to the final 30, let alone the final seven - it was great."

Miss Edwards, who finished sitting her A' Levels the day before the final, had to compete in three events. The first saw her model eco-fashion wear - for which she bought a £5.50 gold dress from a charity shop in Worcester. This got her into the final 30 for the second stage of the contest where she had to model club wear and demonstrate her hula-hooping talents.

The final night saw her modelling a little black dress from fashion designer Eric Way and performing a Bollywood style dance with her fellow contestants.

Although she did not win the title of Miss England, Miss Edwards was crowned County Queen for the Midlands and Lincolnshire. She will keep this title for the next 12 months and won a weekend shopping trip to Paris.

She is now looking forward to a year out before looking at universities, and has modelling and promotions work lined up.
